In ‘Translate Strategy’ leaders address the fourth and fifth areas of discourse:
- How will you get there?
- What are the first steps you need to take?
The leaders converge their strategy thinking. They capture their decisions in the Strategy Map providing a single view of their strategy. The leaders capture a lot of detail. The Strategy Map is summarised on a single page.
The Strategy Map also provides the basis for a Balanced Scorecard. In this work, the imperatives described in the Strategy Map are filled out. The team defines the measures, targets, responsibilities, initiatives and dates. The Balanced Scorecard is usually used to manage KPIs in organisations but will also provide the context for the index of strategic projects.
The StrategyWorks offer in the Translate Strategy phase therefore includes:
- The compiling of the Strategy Map for the organisation.
- Filling out the detail to finalise a Balanced Scorecard.
- The workshops to conceptualise and initiate strategic projects. Read more about project workshops…
During the ‘Translate Strategy’ phase, teams also carry out more detailed planning, based on the Strategy Map and Balanced Scorecard. These plans may include:
- Process improvement
- Marketing planning
- Sales planning
- Resource capacity planning
- Budgeting
- Creating operating plans and dashboards
- The planning of strategic initiatives through programmes and projects
- Aligning work units within the organisation
- Initiating operational and strategy review meetings.
