A well defined plan and commitment from key people are essential for success in projects
Conversation is the most effective way to draw a team around a plan
Through conversation, the ideas and intent of team members may be gathered and synthesised. Drawing on collective intelligence usually results in better solutions. Some members may not agree with the chosen solution but the process allows these people to voice their concerns. This promotes the growth of community and trust. When people feel that their position on the matter was considered by the group they are more inclined to support the agreed position.
How do you manage your planning conversations?
At StrategyWorks we have had great success in helping project managers initiate, refocus and close out projects. We use a structured process which provides great freedom for members of the team to participate and invest their energy in the plan. This generates tremendous energy.
The commitment generated allows project managers to draw extraordinary performance from teams to push tough projects through to completion.
