Hi Nkau - it is great to hear from you again. Changes such as this usually present an opportunity for a new approach. I have some excellent material we can talk around and would like to chat a little more with you about some of the details. I would particularly like to hear more about how your vision is panning out and some of the challenges you are facing. I have a structured session we could follow that would give us both an idea of a way forward. I will drop you a line. All the best Stephen

Hi Stephen, your posting came at the right time when I was looking for interventio on team building. I have had two members of my team leaving and two new peopel have joined. Can you propose something or do you hold team building sessions for senior managers?

Hello Albert - thanks for this. You are right - working with teams is just not that easy - in fact J Richard Hackman cautions organisations against moving to a team model because the upheaval can be catastrophic. Gary Hamel, in his last paper in HBR December 2011 holds out some hope. However the rewards are exciting for organisations who get it right. There is something quite compelling about allowing members to take on the accountability for design and delivery of their work output. I am on the verge of putting out an integrated approach to setting up self-managed teams. Watch this space...

Hi Stephen
This is an excellent post. It is obvious that all of your research on teams and how to assist companies to build teams and to make them effective, places you as a consultant in a strong position to guide companies. Putting a team together, preparing their task environment and guiding them towards achieving true effectiveness, is no easy task.
